New Boston and Donnels Creek Open Railroad, June, 2013

The NB&DC is a garden railroad near Springfield Ohio. It may be the most overdocumented garden railroad in the world, since it's where owner Paul Race tries out his article projects for the Family Garden Trains(tm) web page.

If you're coming to the 2013 National Garden Railway Convention in Cincinnati, you will have a chance to see it along with several great railroads on Friday's tour of the Miami Valley Garden Railway Society's open railroads. The NB&DC will also be open Sunday afternoon, along with at least two railroads that are within 20 miles. So if you don't get here Friday, and you're traveling north or northeast on your way out of town. . . .

On Friday morning, June 7, the New Boston and Donnels Creek Railroad will be part of the route for Bus #3. But we are just as happy to entertain folks who drive up. We just found out the bus should be here around 10:15, so if you're driving, consider arriving before 9:45 or after 10:45 to avoid any crowd.

You DON'T need to contact us ahead of time, but we would love to hear from you so we know who to look for. The last time we were open for a convention, a fellow I'd known for years online showed up, looked around, and told me weeks later that he had stopped by. I am TERRIBLE with names, but if you're a reader and you show up, I want to know. :-)

Don't Come on Wednesday, Thursday, or Saturday - At the moment, our railroad is scheduled to be open ONLY on Friday morning, June 7th and Sunday afternoon, June 9th. Because we will helping with convention stuff on Wednesday and presenting several clinics on Thursday and Saturday, our railroad will not be open on those days. (A friend with a large dog will be on the premises if you feel the need to test this.)

At the moment, we're planning on going down to to the convention after the open railroad on Friday.

Finally, please use the comments box below if you would like to:

  • Help at the open railroad by bringing snacks or helping us get ready or supervise, or in any other way.
  • Request directions.
  • Request help holding your own open railroad.

Please fill in any other details in the "comment" box below and we'll get back as soon as we can.

Thanks, and happy railroading,

Paul Race
