Here's an index to various resources about electricity for your trains and towns.

My trains are nearly ALL track powered. I use Train Engineers for the conventional DC, and use MTH's DCS for my SP Daylight. I have a battery powered track cleaning train. It was designed to convert dirty track into useable track for DC rail operation.

My accessories are generally lighting, and are powered either by the track (signal lights), or with Malibu garden lights. I've converted many of them to LED lighting. I have a few solar lights, and one special LED powered Shrek head. It is powered by the Malibu system, and has green lizard eyes!

Switches would be air powered if I'd ever get to that part.

Dick,
Thanks for the run-down. I love TE, even the older ones - I understand why some folks like or need Revolution, but it's overkill for 90% of what I do.

I understand the value of a battery-powered track-cleaning train. In Ohio, though the big problem isn't gunk on the track, it's plants out of control, and I don't think anybody's made a car that really takes care of that yet.
:-)
