A reader confused by a comment on LGB trains coming out in 1967 writes:

Hi, Just came across your website.

A couple of comments:
LGB started in 1968 at the Nurnberg Toy Fair - big celebration this year on their 50th anniversary.
LGB also started selling their trains in the US in the same year: http://www.gbdb.info/details.php?image_id=3241

On the "Fallen Flags"
Not sure why you included USA Trains, they are still alive and kicking - introduced a bunch of American made reefers last year and
will introduce a new large steam locomotive and heavyweight passenger cars this year.

Companies that are missing from the list are
K-Line - they had a G-Scale line for a couple of years
Main Line America - they also lasted just a short while.

PS: I'm one of the Co-Admins of the Garden Railway Database at
www.gbdb.info working on a long term project to include all G-Scale
trains on a website

Thanks for getting in touch.

I had friends who picked up early production LGB trains in Germany before the Nurnberg Toy Fair, in 1967. They knew the families involved though. So if 1968 was their official introduction, I could put that instead. I should ask which page you saw it on (I have a lot of pages).

USA Trains' Narrow Gauge line was discontinued when they went to 1:29 to match AristoCraft. Many of their 1:22.5 cars still surface on eBay, etc. And a few of their locomotives.

There are quite a few manufacturers who only made a few pieces. I'll add them as I work my way down. Trying to start with the most
influential or prolific first.

I have more to add, but I wanted to get back to you quickly. Have a great day.

Paul Race
