My son is interested in g scale trains. I ordered a bachman g series set for xmas. I saw a new bright g series ye old bakery animated car on ebay and was trying to find outd if the new bright cars are compatible with new bright cars? I tried looking at the hookup pins to the new bright cars and they look a little different than the bachman connectors. also a wire tape connector was hanging outside the animated car at the rear of the car. I tried to find out what that was but no answers. New and confused on these train enigmas!! I would greatly appreciate any help you can give asap so I can decide what to do about ordering this car. Thank you!!

This will be a quick response because I have very little time at the moment. If it doesn't make sense, e-mail me back and I'll try to be clearer.
New Bright runs on the same track, but the cars are much smaller. Some of them have couplers that are almost compatible with Bachmann couplers, but they won't look right on the same train, because of the size difference.
Wait until the Bachmann set gets there, get it out, handle it, run it if you have time, then check out New Bright in the Toys R Us or anyone else that carries it. You'll see what I mean.
Some people run toy trains like New Bright and Scientific Toys EzTec for the fun of it. I have two toy Lionel trains that run on garden train track, but, like the other battery-powered toy trains, they are half the size of scale model trains. They're fun, but they're not model trains, and they're not, frankly, built to last more than one Christmas season.
Hope this helps. Also keep me posted on how your new hobby is progressing. - Paul
