I've been running my Lionel GP-20's a little but am offended by how loud the sound is. Have you encountered this, and if so, how have you reduced the sound? There's only an on/off switch for the sound, no volume control.

Depending on which sound system you have, there is a volume control on one of the "air tank" moldings on the bottom of the locomotive.
Check out page two of this pdf:
http://www.lionel.com/media/servicedocu ... 15-250.pdfIf you have the fancy RailSounds add-on, how you control the volume depends on what other add-ons you have. On the last page of the instructions they say "adjust your GP diesel Locomotive volume control set screw under the exhaust stack in the roof." But they also say to see page 3 for the illustration. And nothing like that seems to be shown on page 3 unless the little hoo-dinkie sticking up like a pushbutton toggle switch is actually a knob.
Sorry I can't be more specific. I live next to a highway and would have to have full-sized live steam to hear my locomotives most of the time, so I don't pay as much attention to the sound as I should.
Have a great summer,
Paul
