Post subject: | Folk Structures |
Several years ago I started noticing things like doll and model houses that were obviously meant to be used outside. I'm guessing it's sort of a lost folk art. Some of them are recorded in this article: http://familygardentrains.com/primer/st ... ldings.htm Yesterday (5/15/15) at the "Springfield (Ohio) Extravaganza" Flea Market, I captured a few more photos. A Mill that might actually have worked. Attachment: folk_art_mill.jpg [ 130.96 KiB | Viewed 13814 times ] This one wouldn't have worked outside so much. As well framed as it is, it's completely hand-built and hand-painted. The roof doesn't lift off, so it's NOT probably a doll houses. It's a steel building made by the Turner Toy Company of Dayton Ohio, probably over a century ago. Large enough for Large Scale. At one time an amateur brush-painted it blue, and a subsequent person painted it red. No way to know what color it originally was unless I bought it and went down through the layers. No sign of a mechanism, but it may have been taken off a platform or something at some point.
