Ohio architect Bill Logan came up with a way to make wide, graceful curves by using plastic lumber for your right-of-way instead of wood.

I am using HDPE lumber for my layout. The straight flat sections which will become a town and a yard are made of 1x4 HDPE lumber in a box type construction with a 1/8 HDPE sheet overlay. The one curved section I have built so far is from 1x4 HDPE lumber precurved to the diameter I wanted. All of this is is supported by PVC pipe legs that are sunk into the ground with concrete. The whole set up is very sturdy as I have had to crawl on it numerous times to work on my backdrops. I have many progress photos I can share if anyone is interested.
