Written by Paul D. Race for Family Garden Trains(tm)
This page is simply a list of AristoCraft track products that are especially useful to people who are beginning their garden railroads. Products that you should find especially useful for beginning garden railroaders with room for eight or ten-foot curves are in bold. For more information about the various options, please check out the Garden Railroad Track Options page.
Update for 2008 - Aluminum Track Revisited - Due to skyrocketing costs of copper, brass track has become much more expensive in the last year. Right now, at least one major vendor is attempting to determine how to hold down costs on brass track, but many folks are considering aluminum, which has taken a back seat until now, and still may not be for everybody. Our new article "Is Aluminum Track a Viable Option" reviews many users' experiences to help you determine if it will likely work for your railroad.
Announcement for September, 2009 - We have added another supplier, Trainz.com, who carries a reasonable amount of Large Scale track, but who also picks up unusual pieces from time to time. Rather than try to keep up with their inventory, we've added a link at the bottom of the page so you can check on the stock and prices there as well.
You may easily print out this page to help you plan your purchases.
Note about Suppliers: While we try to help you get the trains and other products you want by recommending suppliers with a good record of customer service, all transactions between you and the supplier you chose to provide your trains are governed by the published policies on the supplier's web site. So please print off any order confirmation screens and save copies of invoices, etc., so you can contact the appropriate supplier should any problems occur. (They almost never do, but you want to be on the safe side.)

Trainz.Com's Large Scale Track Page
New for 2009! Our new supplier Trainz.Com carries a pretty good inventory of track for garden railroads. However, they also pick up a bit of unusual pieces from time to time, so I'm providing a link to their track page for your convenience.
Note: When you check out the Trainz.com Large Scale track page, remember that Trainz.com doesn't make any distinction between track made to go outdoors and track that is made to run indoors around the Christmas tree. AristoCraft, USA Trains, and LGB track are all made to hold up outside. They also all three work together pretty well. Track from Lionel, Bachmann, and New Bright is not made to hold up outdoors, or to work with track from other brands, so be careful when you make your selection.
